Booking and cancellations

Bookings for the beginner-level treks are made through the Bókun online booking service. Inquiries regarding treks for more experienced riders with faster gaits can be made via email at myynti@saaganissikatoulu.fi or by giving us a call at +358 400-152771. Please provide us with the necessary information truthfully, such as your prior riding experience, which level group you want to partake in, as well as your weight range: A <65 kg, B 65–75 kg or C 75–85 kg, while booking. Also, please inform us if you have any illnesses, mobility impairments, or allergies that the guide should be made aware of for your own personal safety.

If you cannot find a suitable level group or time slot from our online booking calendar, please call us at +358 400 152 771!

From the organizer's side, the trek might have to be cancelled for the following reasons:

  • strong wind/storm/thunder or severe frost/heat
  • dangerously frozen riding terrain or springtime's soft snow conditions
  • the minimum number of participants for the trek has not been fulfilled
  • a case of illness either in horses or guides
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT SUDDEN CHANGES IN WEATHER/TERRAIN WILL DETERMINE THE SPEED OF THE TREKS! WE WILL RIDE WITH A SPEED THAT IS SAFE BOTH FOR THE HORSES AND THE RIDERS!

Equipment

Wearing a helmet is mandatory while riding. Helmets and reflective vests can be borrowed from the stable.

Make sure you have dressed according to the weather. Please wear long pants for the riding treks; riding in shorts is not allowed. You may ride with hiking shoes or other similar type or shoe if you don't own your own riding shoes. During the late autumn/winter, make sure to dress warm enough with proper thermal layers underneath your outer layer. If you need any advice regarding your clothing for the riding treks, don't hesitate to contact us!

The customer's own riding equipment must be properly maintained after the previous use at a stable. Please note that you are not allowed to come to us with riding equipment that has not been disinfected. To ensure that you do not accidentally spread pathogens from one stable to another, make sure that your clothes and gloves have been washed at 60°C after your previous stable visit. Equipment that cannot be washed (e.g., helmet, shoes) must be treated with a disinfectant according to instructions or kept in an 80°C sauna for at least 1 hour (clean the equipment before disinfecting)

We don't recommend carrying additional bags or items on horseback. You may have your mobile phone in your pocket, but please have it muted for the duration of the ride. If you want to take pictures during your ride, please mention it to your guide. All the guides always have their phones with them on the treks.

General safety

On the riding treks, participants ride in groups based on skill level. If a customer has provided misleading information about their riding skills to join a more advanced group, they may be denied participation in the ride. In such cases, the fee will not be refunded. This policy is important for overall safety, the well-being of the horses, and the satisfaction of other participants.

All participants must be in a condition to partake in the trek. Participants who appear to be under the influence or otherwise behave inappropriately will not be allowed on horseback. First-riders and beginners must be able to maintain control of themselves in potentially unexpected situations.

Safety is one of our core values, and therefore, we require customers to follow the given instructions. The stable reserves the right to interrupt the activity if required for the safety of customers and/or horses (and if the interruption is due to the customer's disregard of the rules, the cost of the ride will not be refunded).

For online bookings made through Bókun, payment is made in advance. For bookings made by phone or email, payment is always made on-site before the ride. You can pay with cash or card, as well as with various employee fitness benefits. Accepted options include Smartum, Edenred, and Epassi apps. These benefits are personal, so they cannot be used to pay for another person's ride.

(During the winter season from September to June, the payment terminal is unfortunately not in use, so please bring cash with you.)

Insurances

Our customers have not been insured in case of an accident. We highly recommend that you have your own valid insurance or other equivalent coverage!

We reserve all rights to all changes regarding the treks and organizing them.
